Brisas de la Bahía – A Floating Taste of Paquera

Some restaurants have a great ocean view. Brisas de la Bahía takes it one step further – the restaurant is actually floating on the ocean.
Located in the calm waters around Isla Cedros, between Isla Cedros and Isla Jesusita, Brisas de la Bahía is one of Paquera's most unusual places to enjoy lunch. Getting there is part of the experience: you arrive by boat, step onto the floating platform and sit down surrounded by the waters, islands and green hills of the Gulf of Nicoya.
From the Sea to Your Plate
Seafood is naturally the star here, but there is an interesting story behind what arrives on your plate.
Brisas de la Bahía is connected to a local mariculture project, developed as an alternative source of income for families traditionally dependent on fishing. Floating cages beside the restaurant have been used to raise marine species such as snapper and shrimp, combining small-scale aquaculture, responsible use of marine resources and tourism.
That means a visit can offer something you rarely experience in a restaurant: seeing where some of the seafood comes from before sitting down to enjoy it.
The project directly benefits local families and also creates connections with small-scale fishers and producers from communities around Paquera.
Fresh Seafood in a Very Different Setting
Visitors who have included Brisas de la Bahía as part of boat trips through the Gulf frequently highlight the fresh seafood and the experience of eating in such an unusual location. Ceviche, fresh fish and other seafood dishes taste just a little different when your table is literally floating above the sea.
But perhaps the best part is the atmosphere. There are no busy streets outside, no traffic and no typical restaurant surroundings – just boats passing in the distance, seabirds overhead and the gentle movement of the Gulf beneath you.
It is simple, local and unmistakably Paquera.
Plan Your Visit
Brisas de la Bahía is open from 11:00 a.m. until sunset and is closed on Mondays, so keep this in mind when planning your visit. Since the restaurant is floating and reached by boat, it is a good idea to arrange your visit and transportation in advance, especially if you are traveling with a larger group or planning a special celebration.
The restaurant works particularly well as part of a day exploring the Gulf. Combine lunch with snorkeling, island hopping, wildlife watching or simply a leisurely boat ride around Isla Cedros and Isla Jesusita.
And that is really what makes this place special.
Brisas de la Bahía isn't simply somewhere to stop for lunch – the journey there, the floating restaurant, the locally rooted mariculture project and the fresh seafood all become part of the experience.
Another little piece of Paquera that you simply have to experience from the water.
