When travel creator Planet Juan set out to explore Costa Rica, he had already visited some of the country’s most well-known destinations. But it was his time in Paquera, on the Nicoya Peninsula, that offered something different—something more authentic, local, and deeply memorable.
During his journey, Juan made a special stop in Paquera, where he visited our colorful community mural created by the local youth association (ADEJ), with support from Peace Corps volunteer Amanda. In his YouTube video, he also shares a meaningful interview with her, offering insight into the community work behind the project and the positive impact it has had locally.
Juan stayed at Bahía Rica in Punta Cuchillo, a peaceful coastal area known for its natural beauty and laid-back atmosphere. From there, he joined a bioluminescence kayak tour, one of the most unique experiences in the Gulf of Nicoya. As night falls, the water comes alive with glowing microorganisms, creating a magical effect that feels almost unreal—something Juan describes as being inside a scene from a movie.
To complete the experience, he also enjoyed local cuisine at La Vuelta del Sol, where fresh flavors and a relaxed beachfront setting reflect the essence of coastal Costa Rican life.
Throughout his travels, Juan visited beaches, volcanoes, and some of Costa Rica’s most famous regions. Yet, what stood out to him about Paquera was its authenticity. Unlike more crowded destinations, this area offers a genuine connection to nature and local culture—where experiences feel personal, unfiltered, and real.
